Senior Account Executive

Kickstand Communications, a national, full-service PR firm, is looking for a Senior Account Executive (SAE) to join its team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of public relations experience. Previous B2B tech agency experience required, with a preference given to those with experience in enterprise tech, AI, and/or cybersecurity.

The successful Senior Account Executive has a proactive nature and desire to be the best of the best when it comes to operating in an AI future. They offer leadership and extensive knowledge of business and tech media and also have strong connections and approach on new media, including substack and podcasts. Working with senior management, they are able to lead media programs for multiple accounts. They are results-oriented and data-minded. They have a knack for organization and detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks on an ongoing basis. They understand and can effectively communicate complex technology concepts. They have a strong work ethic, proven track record in team building and excellent interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time position that can be based in MA, TX, or CO. The position is largely remote, but requires the ability to access Denver, Boston, or Austin on a frequent basis (~1x per month) for company meetups, client meetings, etc. As a Senior Account Executive, your responsibilities will include: 

Client Relations & Account Support

  • Support multiple agency B2B accounts
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients
  • Ensure speed and accuracy across all client correspondence
  • Understand client’s business and objectives, and offer counsel and advice that reflects understanding
  • Manage projects for clients, ensuring delivery to deadline and results
  • Ideate, craft and edit short and long-form content
  • Manage speaker and awards programs
  • Extensive media relations, including:
  • Serving as media lead across multiple accounts, working to secure targeted, high-quality coverage
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key media contacts
  • Contributing to client strategies and execute against quarterly plans
  • Manage press meetings and media tours
  • Showcasing a deep understanding of today’s media landscape and regularly monitoring for breaking news

Team Support

  • Provide leadership and direction to team members and co-workers 
  • Support development and mentor junior team members
  • Support development and growth of a strong agency culture
  • Consistently demonstrate creative problem solving
  • Support development of training opportunities, including participation in and leading brainstorms, training and planning sessions
  • Offer ideas for Kickstand company initiatives (cultural, operational, etc.) 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep understanding of core PR skills (media and influencer outreach, client relations, program management, writing, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of print, broadcast and digital media
  • A passion for technology and working with startups
  • Excellent client management skills, including day-to-day management and counsel across multiple accounts
  • Ability to build and deliver client reports, including the mastery of several tools
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure 
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Time management and organization
  • Ability to establish and foster media relationships and convert into meaningful media opportunities
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive, constructive attitude
  • Polished and professional

Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree (preferably with a PR or Marketing-related major)
  • 3-5 years of PR experience, some previous agency experience required (tech PR agency environment preferable)
  • Experience with PR tools/databases, such as CisionPoint, TrendKite, etc. 
  • Work in Google Analytics not required, but a plus 
  • Experience conducting or working with market research not required, but a plus
