Celebrating nine years of Kickstand!

This month, Kickstand is celebrating our nine year anniversary!

What began as a two-woman operation at a kitchen table in Texas is now a rapidly growing global team, with programs spanning North America, the UK, EMEA, and APAC. A recent honoree of the Inc. 5000 (and a proud one at that!), we can attribute our success over the past near-decade to a steadfast commitment to our vision: we’re here to rethink PR for high-growth technology brands.

That approach has helped our agency lead efforts in some of the most exciting tech markets shaping the way we work, live, and play. From electric and autonomous vehicles to robotics, to ecommerce and supply chain tech, to HR tech and cybersecurity, Kickstand is proud to call some of the most influential tech startups worldwide among our clients.

What exactly have we been up to over the past nine years? Alongside our clients, we’ve:

  • Launched research & development brands into market

  • Created entirely new market categories

  • Placed our CEOs on the stage of some of the world’s biggest tech events

  • Earned our execs recognition as some of the biggest global innovators

  • Overtaken legacy incumbents to own share of voice

  • Helped protect established brands in the public markets

  • Prepared brands for major exits via both IPO and acquisition

Beyond the work we get to do every way, Kickstand has led the way in reimagining the future of work since our inception. We’ve been a hybrid organization since day one and have built out our benefits package based on the direct input and needs of our team. Some of our most exciting benefits include our family planning grant, working parents stipend, and covering travel costs for employees seeking reproductive healthcare in neighboring states in the wake of the Roe v. Wade decision.

COVID dealt our business a major curveball, as it did every other business on the planet. We quickly shifted to a fully remote workforce and were able to come out stronger on the other side due to our focus on bringing creativity to our programs and maintaining a client-first attitude.

We’ve grown via a test and learn mentality, staying agile and constantly evaluating the market to easily adjust to the changing needs of our clients – whether that means adding new capabilities like the launch of our in-house research division; expanding into new geographies to support our clients as they scale globally; quickly building expertise in emerging categories like crypto and robotics; or simply doubling down on client support as we all weathered storms together.

As we look to the future of the industry, we plan to see tighter integration between sales and marketing organizations, and more specifically between content and PR. We’re excited to see the global-first approach to business take hold and are proud to be setting our sights on continued hiring  in Canada, Europe, and beyond to better serve international clients.

In short, we’ve come a long way since those long nights at the kitchen table. And we can’t wait to see what the next nine years hold!
